Spring & Summer 2021-2022
Welcome to the Spring term in Nursery Class. On this page you will find information about topics, activities and our timetable for this half term.
I am looking forward to sharing lots of fun learning experiences with your children this term and I cannot wait to tell everyone about our first theme. Let's find out what we will be studying in Nursery Class this Spring half term...
Our theme for the first half of the term is going to be...
Let’s Explore
To begin the Spring Term we will explore the environments that we share with others, including our homes, school and places in the local community. We will enjoy reading the well-known story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’. Where will the story take us? Where will be explore? Maybe we will go on our very own bear hunt through the grass, mud and forest.
And our adventures continue …… Our next story is called the ‘The Great Explorer’. We will look at the globe and discover more about the North Pole. What animals live here? How is this different to where we live? Going on adventures can be lots of fun, I wonder what we’ll discover
After the Spring half term we will be studying ...
During the second half of the Spring Term we will explore our love of rhymes. We will listen to, join in and move to lots of different rhymes. Which will your favourite be? Can you perform your rhyme at home with your family? Maybe we will sing and perform Welsh songs and share them with our friends and family on St David’s Day.
Our first story this half term will be ‘We’re going on a lion hunt’. We are going to be excited as it’s very similar to ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ but this time we’re out exploring for lions. I wonder what animals we’ll find on the way? Where do these animals live? How do they move?
I am excited to see all the wonderful costumes on World Book Day this year and share them with our friends when we parade around the village. What will your favourite book be? Which character will you choose to dress up as? We will also be having lots of fun during Fairtrade Fortnight. We will find out where chocolate comes from through reading a ‘Charlie and Lola’ story and perhaps we can make our very own Fairtrade Rice Krispie cake and begin to learn how to follow instructions as we make them.
Our second story will be ‘Elmer’. A story about a very kind, thoughtful and colourful elephant who’s a little bit different to her friends. We will explore colour in lots of different fun and exciting ways. Maybe we could create ‘Elmer’s Jungle’ in class and make masks to pretend to be Elmer and her friends. Let’s find out more about Elmer’s friends. Where do they live?
At the end of the term, we will find out ‘Why we celebrate Easter?’ Perhaps we will learn why we eat chocolate eggs?
