Autumn 2021-2022
To begin the Autumn Term the children will settle into the routines of their new class, enjoy learning with their friends and feel confident in their class.
We will learn how to be helpful, kind and thoughtful at home and at school. This project will also let you talk about your own families, how they are unique and special. We will talk about how and why it is important to be good friends to each other.
We will find out how the people in your family, school and local community are important and how they can help you. Maybe we could make a card and send a thank you message to someone who has helped you.
Finally, at the end of the project, our Reception pupils will have the opportunity to help Bear understand how to be a good friend and a helpful part of his community.
Does this sound exciting? Remember in our EPIC sessions it's your ideas that count so get your thinking caps on ... what important people would YOU like to find out about?
After the October half term we will be studying ...
This half term we are going to explore the differences in the world at night compared to during the day. We could go on a walk during the day around the school grounds and I wonder if we could come back to school after dark for a night walk. What will we see and hear? We could spend some time looking into the sky at the moon and stars and shine our torches at objects we saw during our day walk. ... Let's explore together!
Following this we will learn all about the importance of a good night’s sleep and discover what is happening in the world while you are asleep, including finding out about nocturnal animals.
Finally to end our project, poor Tessy Bear can’t get to sleep. I wonder if you can help her get ready for bed and understand more about night time.
It's over to you - time to start thinking of your ideas for our EPIC session, where we will decide together what we can learn about in our exciting theme 'Starry Night!'
Below is our class timetable - what happens in Reception Class and when
