Safeguarding Statement:

The safety, wellbeing and protection of every child is our highest priority at Pembrey Primary School.

We are committed to creating a safe, caring and inclusive environment where all pupils feel valued, respected and protected. We recognise that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and we are dedicated to promoting the welfare of every child.

All adults working in or visiting our school have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of children. We work closely with parents, carers, the Local Authority and other agencies to ensure that children are safe and receive the support they need.

If you have any concerns about the safety or welfare of a child, please contact the school or Police immediately.

Reporting a Safeguarding Concern

If you are worried about a child, please speak to one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads as soon as possible.

All concerns will be taken seriously and dealt with in accordance with Welsh safeguarding procedures. In some cases, the DSL or Deputy DSL will contact the Central Referral Team (CRT) for advice. Following a discussion with them, we may formalise concerns by completing a Multi-Agency Referral Form (MARF), which is sent to CRT. CRT then decides whether further support is required and, if so, will organise the relevant multi-agency support. Due to the sensitive nature of some concerns, it may not always be possible to speak with parents first.

If you have a safeguarding concern, you can contact the Central Referral Team (CRT) on 01554 742322 yourself.

If a child is in immediate danger, please call the Police on 999 straight away.

Operation Encompass

Pembrey Primary School is part of Operation Encompass.

Operation Encompass is a national initiative that supports children who may have been exposed to domestic abuse. The school receives confidential information from the police, prior to the start of the next school day, enabling appropriate support to be provided for affected children.

Online Safety

Helping children to stay safe online is an important part of our safeguarding work.

Through our curriculum, assemblies and wider school activities, pupils learn how to:

• Use technology safely and responsibly.
• Identify online risks.
• Report concerns or inappropriate content.
• Protect their personal information online.

Parents and carers are encouraged to work with us to promote safe and responsible online behaviour.

Prevent Duty

As part of our safeguarding responsibilities, the school is committed to protecting children from radicalisation and extremism.

We promote respect, tolerance, inclusion and critical thinking through our curriculum and school values. Concerns relating to radicalisation are managed through established safeguarding procedures.

Visitors to School

To help keep our children safe:

• All visitors must report to Reception.
• Visitors must sign in and wear lanyard identification whilst on site.
• Adults who are not known to the school may be asked to provide photographic identification.
• Visitors must follow the school's safeguarding procedures throughout their visit.
