Autumn 2021-2022
Welcome! Croeso!
This is the Year 1 webpage.
Welcome to the Autumn term in Year 1. On this page you will find information about topics, activities and our timetable for this half term.
I am looking forward to sharing lots of fun learning experiences with your children this term and I cannot wait to tell everyone about our first theme. Let's find out what we will be studying in Year 1 this Autumn half term..
Our theme for the first half of the term is going to be...
To begin the Autumn Term we are going to look at changes over time with our project called 'Memory Box'. Let’s look back at some family photos of our special memories - How have we changed? Can you remember a special occasion you have been to, perhaps a holiday, a birthday or two, a wedding or a christening?
It will also be interesting for us to compare toys from the past with its modern equivalent. Do you recall a favourite toy, maybe a teddy bear or a favourite book? We will use signs and actions to learn and retell the traditional story ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’.
Finally, at the end of the project, we will create our very own memory box to keep our important and treasured memories. What will you put in your special box? In years to come, maybe you can revisit them and remember how you looked when you were young. Memories are special. Let’s make some more!
Does this sound exciting? Remember in our EPIC sessions it's your ideas that count so get your thinking caps on ... what special memories would YOU like to find out about.
After the October half term we will be studying …
This half term we are going to find out all about animals. What’s your favourite animal? One that meows? One that barks? Or maybe one that scurries or slithers?
We will find out all about pets at home to animals in the zoo, which animals like to eat, where do they like to sleep, how do we look after them and who eats who? Let's find out together!
When a mysterious pet arrives at the local pet shop, it’s up to you to take care of it. Feed them, clean them and discover their daily needs. After all that work, curl up and take a cat nap.
It's over to you - time to start thinking of your ideas for our EPIC session, where we will decide together what we can learn about in our exciting theme 'Paws, Claws and Whiskers!
