Autumn 22
Welcome to the Autumn term in Year 3. On this page you will find information about topics, activities and our timetable for this half term.
I am looking forward to sharing lots of fun learning experiences with your children this term and I cannot wait to tell everyone about our first theme. Let's find out what we will be studying in Year 3 this Autumn half term...
Our theme for the first half of the term is
Here We Are
For this autumn term, Blwyddyn 3 will be taking inspiration from Oliver Jeffers’ book ‘Here We Are’ to plan our learning. In our Everyone Planning in Class (EPIC) session, the class discussed some important themes of the book such as; taking care of our planet, exploring landscapes, staying healthy and our place in the world. We then collaborated to come up with some fantastic activities through which we could develop our skills across all subjects.
Our class understands the importance of taking care of our planet and the need to recycling the waste we produce. Blwyddyn 3 will be experiencing the recycling process first hand by recycling our very own paper in class. From this experience we will be writing instructions on how anyone can recycle paper and producing posters to promote the benefits of recycling in the community.
We live in such a beautiful village, but what makes our landscape so special and how was it created? These are just some the questions Blwyddyn 3 will be answering as they explore the 'natural', 'man-made' and 'managed' features we find while we go exploring our locality. We will also be learning about how local artists have captured beauty of our local environment through the medium of water colour paints.
As the season changes and we celebrate the harvest, we will also be taking time to reflect on and be grateful for all that we have. We will be performing our harvest song in St Illtyd's Church and writing acrostic poems to show that we are truly thankful.
What a awesome autumn we have ahead of us! Let’s get learning!
